To combat abuses of academic freedom and human rights in education, CAUT has joined a new worldwide alert network. The UNESCO-funded Network for Education and Academic Rights (NEAR) disseminates information on academic rights violations to its member organizations throughout the world and posts "alerts" on its web site www.nearinternational.org.
