Peter Simpson began his work as CAUT’s newest assistant executive director in mid-July. Prior to joining CAUT, Simpson was an assistant professor of philosophy at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario and served as president of the Laurentian University Faculty Association. "We are delighted to have someone of Peter’s capabilities and experience join our staff," said James Turk, executive director of CAUT. "His work as both LUFA president and formerly as chief steward will serve him well as he assists CAUT’s member associations in collective bargaining." Simpson holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and taught for a year at Brock University. He was a visiting scholar at Pennsylvania State University in 2000–2001.
