Marcus Harvey joined the staff of CAUT in August as a professional officer. His work for CAUT will include assisting the executive director with academic freedom cases, serving as a policy officer, providing advice to local associations and helping with local organizing efforts. Prior to joining CAUT, Marcus was in charge of the western district office of the American Association of University Professors. He holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, an MA from Queen’s University and a PhD in American History from the University of Florida where he served as a vice-president for bargaining of the United Faculty of Florida, the statewide union representing academic staff at Florida’s public universities and colleges.
