Royal Roads University Faculty Association is the newest member of CAUT, following acceptance of its application at the November CAUT Council meeting.

The Victoria, British Columbia-based faculty association, which represents about 40 full-time
faculty and librarians, won union certification two years ago and negotiated its first collective agreement in 2006.

“We’re very pleased Royal Roads University Faculty Association has joined our federation,” said CAUT executive director James Turk. “RRUFA has done a remarkable job in a relative short period of time to improve the lot of academic staff.”

Royal Roads University was created by special act of the B.C. Legislature in 1996 and offers undergraduate, graduate and executive programs in applied and professional fields.

RRUFA is the second faculty association to become part of the CAUT network in 2007 and joins other recent new members such as St. Mary’s University College Faculty Association and Huron University College Faculty Association.
