Petition calls for transparency in Brock presidential search

Brock University Faculty Association has launched an online petition in support of an open search process for the university’s next president.

“The campaign is part of a broader call for openness and transparency in the selection of university presidents across Canada,” BUFA president Linda Rose-Krasnor said.

Brock is currently conducting a closed search for its new president — a process the faculty association worries sets the pattern for a “closed” president.

“Our members want a president who thinks it’s important to meet the Brock community, not just a selection committee,” Rose-Krasnor said. “We want a president who values shared decision-making and consistently practices transparency and broad consultation.”

BUFA is urging academic staff associations across Canada to share its petition campaign with their members to help spur greater support for open presidential searches in the post-secondary sector.
