Cabinet ministers worth noting

Hon. Kirsty Duncan – Minister of Science

•     MP for Etobicoke North
•     MP since 2008
•     Formerly associate professor of health studies at the University of Toronto
•     Served on the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
•     Holds a doctorate in geography from the University of Edinburgh

Priorities: Boost investment in basic research; appoint an independent Science Advisor.

Hon. Navdeep Bains – Minister of Innovation, Science & Economic Development

•     MP for Mississauga-Malton
•     MP for Mississauga-Brampton South from 2004 to 2011
•     Holds an MBA with a specialization in finance
•     Certified Management Accountant
•     Worked for the Ford Motor Company of Canada

Priorities: Ensure adequate funding and independence of Statistics Canada.

Hon. MaryAnn Mihychuk - Minister for Employment, Workforce Development & Labour

•     MP for Kildonan-St. Paul
•     Geoscientist
•     Former member of the Manitoba Legislature and former NDP minister from 1995 to 2004
•     Served as Minister of Industry, Trade and Mines and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs
•     Holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg and a Master’s in Geology from
      Brock University

Priorities: Repeal Bill C-377; improve the Canada Student Loans and Canada Study Grants programs; expand training and educational opportunities.
