Bilingual designation of award relevant

The acknowledgment in the June, 1998 edition of the Bulletin of our having bestowed the prestigious Prix Nicole Raymond Award on professor Claude Dionne is greatly appreciated.

We ask you to note, however, that the official -- and sole -- designation of the award is bilingual, regardless of the official language in which reference to it is being made. The word "Prix" is, therefore, as much an integral part thereof as the word "Award." Consequently, we respectfully request that the full bilingual description be used in any future reference thereto.

President, Federation of New Brunswick Faculty Associations

The CAUT Executive Committee and the editorial board have worked to encourage French-language articles and news stories in the Bulletin. Meanwhile, CAUT's commitment to bilinguality has led it to make simultaneous translation a permanent feature of CAUT Council meetings. Where practical, our workshops and seminars are given in both languages. We regret that notice of the award of the Prix Nicole-Raymond Award appeared in English only, and will continue working to ensure that all aspects of CAUT policy on bilinguality are honoured -- ed.
