The planned CAUT/FQPPU national lobby day has been pre-empted by the federal election campaign.
In its place, CAUT will host a lobbying and communications workshop on Nov. 23.
The workshop will provide participants with advice and training on how to effectively deal with politicians and the media.
Specifically, the workshop will focus on how to organize local meetings with MPs immediately after the election, what key issues to raise during the meetings, what steps to take to maintain an ongoing dialogue with local MPs, and, how to develop effective communication and lobbying skills to ensure that post-secondary education issues continue to receive visibility in the community.
The hands-on workshop will be held at CAUT's office in Ottawa.
Participants will be asked to act out roles and work through common problems encountered in dealing with politicians and the media.
