The Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) has certified a new bargaining unit of contract academic staff. On Feb. 13, the Ontario Labour Relations Board issued a certificate after NUFA successfully settled its dispute with the university over the definition of the bargaining unit. The new unit will include part-time instructors, laboratory instructors and individuals who teach additional basic qualifications courses in the faculty of education. Instructors of additional qualifications, the source of the disagreement between the university and the faculty association, are excluded from the bargaining unit. NUFA will be calling a meeting of the new unit to elect representatives to the executive and bargaining team, and will survey its new members about their priorities for their first contract.
