Bishop's University Faculty Association has voted to join the National Union of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (NUCAUT), becoming the twelfth association to do so. Bishop's joins Memorial, Mount Saint Vincent, Cape Breton, Mount Allison, York, Windsor, Laurentian, Algoma, Winnipeg, Athabasca and CIEA/BC. At its June meeting, the Canadian Labour Congress Executive Council voted to authorize CLC president Ken Georgetti to admit NUCAUT to the CLC. A strong majority of national unions supported NUCAUT's admission. It is expected membership formalities will be completed in the next few weeks, enabling NUCAUT and its locals to take their place in the CLC. As members of NUCAUT, faculty associations will be eligible to join provincial federations of labour and community-based labour councils.
