In a recent budget brief submitted to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, CAUT recommended the federal government revise the way it funds post-secondary education and guarantee that continued fiscal surpluses are directed into areas most needed. CAUT has proposed the creation of targeted funding that would be governed by the creation of a National Post-Secondary Education Act.
