Strike Vote at Manitoba

Members of the University of Manitoba Faculty Association approved a strike ballot by 68.2 per cent in a vote taken Oct. 12. Issues include salary structure (the employer wants discretionary market-related increases in excess of $1 million), faculty renewal and improvements to family leaves. The association also opposes the employer's new flexbenefits system for "paramedical services" at the cost of benefits previously in the plan.
