Act Violates ILO Convention

The International Labour Organization, the UN body responsible for upholding international labour standards, has ruled that section 63.1 of Ontario's Labour Relations Act, which requires unionized employers to post and circulate information on trade union decertification in the workplace, violates the international convention on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize, to which Canada became a signatory in 1972. The ILO has asked the Ontario government to repeal section 63.1 of the act.
