Michael Piva
Michael Piva has joined the staff of CAUT as the association’s third assistant executive director. He took up his duties in July, joining Neil Tudiver and Peter Simpson in assisting member associations with collective bargaining. Prior to joining CAUT, Michael was a professor of history at the University of Ottawa where he served in many positions within his department and the university, most recently as a member of the joint occupational health and safety committee and the joint committee on the abolition of mandatory retirement. He has been active for many years in the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa and was previously president of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations, a member of CAUT’s executive committee and chair of CAUT’s collective bargaining and economic benefits committee.
