Sylvain Schetagne has joined the staff of CAUT as associate executive director of research and advocacy. He took up his duties in August, replacing David Robinson, who has assumed the position of executive director.
Prior to joining CAUT, Sylvain served for six years with the Canadian Labour Congress, first as senior economist, then national director of political action and campaigns, and most recently chief economist and national director of the social and economic policy department. He previously held positions with the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Canadian Council for Social Development.
Sylvain holds a master’s degree in industrial relations from Laval University and is a graduate of the Harvard University trade union program.
“We are delighted to have someone of Sylvain’s knowledge and experience join our staff,” said Robinson. “He brings an impressive range of research and political skills to CAUT that will help us to continue to move in a progressive and activist direction.”
